An atheist spat

Recently, a few atheist groups had a public food-fight. I recently learnt that the expression "food-fight" is not known to all Westerners... it means, a bar-room brawl, if you know what that means!

Because a few years ago I'd done some detailed research into one of the groups involved, Creation Ministries International asked me to take a look and do a write-up. They wanted to educate their readers as to the strategies that different groups of atheists are employing, and to warn Christian readers of not getting sucked into a role akin to Lenin's (if Lenin did indeed use these words) "useful idiots". The article is now on the web, here.

I was particularly interested in the position of the organisations attempting to silence dispute on evolution theory. I am reading a book entitled What Darwin Got Wrong by two evolution-believing scientists. In the Introduction they state, “We’ve been told by more than one of our colleagues that, even if Darwin was substantially wrong to claim that natural selection is the mechanism of evolution, nonetheless we shouldn’t say so. Not, anyhow, in public. To do that is, however inadvertently, to align oneself with the Forces of Darkness, whose goal it is to bring Science into disrepute. Well, we don’t agree. We think the way to discomfort the Forces of Darkness is to follow the arguments wherever they may lead, spreading such light as one can in the course of doing so. What makes the Forces of Darkness dark is that they aren’t willing to do that. What makes Science scientific is that it is.”
Bravo. They make it clear that the Forces of Darkness are deniers, on both sides of the debate, and that many in the scientific community are obviously concerned that evolution may not be true after all.
