Is your life worth less if you are severely disabled? Maybe so worthless that other people should have the right to kill you?
Does that sound like a reasonable suggestion, or does it sound like something that just escaped from Nazi Germany?
Nope - it's the modern, liberal, enlightened UK. The law presently allows babies with a "serious handicap" to be killed right up to the moment of birth - whereas to do that to a healthy baby would quite rightly be considered by the law as murder. Maybe you think this is some kind of historical anachronism?
Wrong again. At the end of January Baroness Masham of Ilton tabled an ammendment in the House of Lords to remove this evil provision. Her attempt was defeated by 89 votes to 22 - a margin of just over 4 to 1 in favour of continuing the legal killing of disabled babies.
In recent times "serious handicap" has included a cleft palate or a club foot. Just so that you know whose life isn't, according to the state, worth living.
